A MAN WITH A VERSE I have always loved and admired the beauty of things that were made to be used. That is why I’ve always loved old classic work trucks- built tough to get the job done. I also like cars that serve their purpose, like an Audi TT roadster, topping out at 160mph, a symbol of class and elegance in motion on the road. We can’t forget about fashion, a direct way one can express themselves leaving an impression in one’s mind — setting a mood, tone, and a feeling just by wearing a hat, a tie, shoes, or even a classic timepiece. These things represent excellence and glamor of bygone eras. I can say with confidence that I have an appreciation for things that were made to be used. However, going much deeper than the temporal intricacies of life. I say with confidence, much more do I appreciate a “man with a verse,” a verse from the living word of God. A man with a true and untainted belief of the scriptures that evokes confidence. Passion. Wisdom. Understanding. Submission. Faith. Hope. And Love. Paul writes in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” This is just a few verses after Paul expresses that he knows how to be content in any circumstance that life puts him in (Philippians 4:10). Whether Paul is in poverty or living in abundance, he knows the secret of getting along and being content. His contentment is found in his belief and understanding of the scriptures that testify and verify about our Christ who will supply His people with all of their needs. Paul is a man who has the word of God and through the word of God, Paul finds contentment. Though not in the physical things in life but through the eternal. It is in Christ that Paul finds true contentment. This is why one can appreciate, “a man with a verse.” When one is experiencing the peak of their joy and everything is lovely and happiness is theirs, it is at one’s convenience to be content. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” It’s when you’re feeling lonely, anxious, unhappy that you have to dig deep into the word. When you’re in the darkest hours of your life, you’re perplexed and emotionally impoverished; it is in these moments a man with a verse can and will prevail. I have always admired things that were made to be used. A man with a verse, using the word of God to prevail through harsh times and circumstances, and using the word of God to serve others is why I admire things that were made to be used. The word of God was made to be utilized and by it, a man will be approved by His Creator. Quinton Decker

Has there ever been a time in your life when you’ve been disobedient to the word of God? The feelings of loneliness. The despair. The emptiness. The tumultuous times that often seem to follow us due to our rebellion chasing after our passions and lusts. Being deceived by those who distort the word of God to gain an advantage. In those moments you realize and understand that your sins have caused a separation between you and God. It is in those moments you find yourself in captivity in a foreign land outside of God’s plan for you to prosper. Let the message of Jeremiah 29:11 from God to His people encourage you. After you have gone though those tumultuous times, God wants you to know and understand that He is the Lord, He is the One that knows His plans for your welfare ad not calamity. But, God wants to give you a future and a hope — then you will call upon Him and pray to Him and then and only then will He listen. So today be invigorated by knowing that God desires to give you a hope and a future of prosperity in Him, but He wants you to call on Him and leave your former ways of sin. #verseoftheday #hickmanroad

I would like for you to think with me for a moment to a time you have used verbal affirmation to a friend or a loved one. I would also like for you to think to a time when you’ve received terms of endearment from a loved one, and how it made you feel — words like “ I love you”, “ I’d do anything for you,” “I love you to the moon and back,” and one that expresses the deepest love, “I would die for you.” All of these phrases carry and express a level of love for one another. However, I invite you, the reader, to reflect on 1 John 4:9. "By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.” God manifests His love not only in word, but demonstrating it in deed by the sacrificing of His Son the ultimate manifestation of love so you and I can live as Him in righteousness. This is the love that reconciles us to God from the sting of death. So what is the result of 1 John 4:9? It is 1 John 4:11, If God so loved us, we ought to love one another, why? Because, a great portion of our relationship with God is based on how we treat others. This is how God manifests Himself in us; through righteousness. #verseoftheday #hickmanroadchurch

Fun was had by all last night at Trunk or Treat. Thanks to everyone who came out to to join us for a spectacular time! Here’s just a few pictures of some of those great costumes!

We were so blessed to have students from Bear Valley Bible Institute in Denver join us for a week. They led services, worked on projects around the church building, interacted with the community, and so much more! Such a wonderful reminder of the things that can be accomplished when Gods’s Kingdom comes together 😊
